Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs finished off their home regular-season schedule with a split in Tri-Valley League play Tuesday.
The Lady Cubs dropped a 25-15, 25-6 decision to Eureka High’s Tornadoes. They ended the night with a 25-19, 25-17 win over Cherryvale High’s Chargers.
“We served the ball well and were aggressive at the net,” said Stephanie Splechter, HHS head coach, of the Cherryvale match. “We took care of business in the second set and played to our potential. It was a good way to end senior night.”
Sheri Middleton and Hannah McCall each delivered five kills for Humboldt. Middleton put up eight solo blocks at the net against the Chargers. Kayle Riebel had one block and two kills. Kindahl Young downed two kills.
Anna Setter and Morgan Morris each served six points. Young had two service aces. Setter and Middleton had one ace serve apiece while Taylyn Wells had three ace serves.
Setter and Morris each were credited with six set assists. Wells came up with four digs and McCall had three digs.
Splechter said Eureka is a good team. She said Humboldt played well at times but was not consistent enough.
Middleton downed five kills and made three blocks at the net. She also had one service ace. Setter and Morris each had three set assists. McCall made three digs.
Humboldt wraps up its season Saturday at the Neodesha Invitational tournament.
On the road, Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans evened up their record. The Lady Titans captured two Lyon County League wins beating host Marais Des Cygnes Valley 25-19, 25-11 and Hartford 26-24, 25-12.
“We started slow in both matches but got stronger as we went along,” said Jeff True, SCCH head coach. “The girls seem to be playing with more consistency now. We will get another tough test at the LCL tournament this weekend.”
The Lady Titans (13-13)play in Saturday’s Lyon County League tournament in Emporia.
Ashley Johnson served four aces Tuesday for SCCH. Sarah Webb and Breanna Isch each had four blocks.
Ashton Isch racked up 15 kills on the night and had four digs. Katelyn Rogers was credited with 18 set assists.
The SCCH junior varsity beat Marais Des Cygnes Valley in two sets.
